Bosco Ottica, a success story

A debut in the field of industrial optics

Lasers, from infrared to ultraviolet, have a great many different applications, a lot of them remain to be discovered and studied. In the course of the years, Bosco Ottica kept specializing more and more, in order to meet manifold demands.

In the 1990s a local company, a manufacturer of filters for laser light show projectors that needed to improve its production, got in touch with Bosco Ottica: they required filters of various dimensions with different and higher-quality polygonal  forms, necessary to project images on large surface areas. Thanks to this order, Bosco Ottica was able to grow, plough back profits into the scientific area, and purchase new equipment that was still unknown in Italy at the time.

Besides being farsighted and careful, Bosco Ottica prides itself on having always paid attention, even with humility, to the needs and the requests of its customers, always interacting with them with the utmost competence and high professionalism.
At the turn of the century, laser manufacturers started complaining about their need to have optical fibers repaired. Therefore, Bosco Ottica began to specialize in repairing optical fibers first, then, after a while, started producing them, fostered by the great success achieved by laser hair removal and tattoo removal in those years.

The small family business thus grew into a leading industrial firm at the vanguard of its sector, having at its disposal one-of-a-kind machinery that are unique in the Italian market, capable of giving a boost to quality improvement significantly.
Until recently, Bosco Ottica, although competent and at the forefront of its sector, just restricted itself to meeting the needs of its customers, but eventually changed its approach, evolving into a technical partner, able to design and propose. Thanks to the technical knowledge contributed by Mr. Ermanno’s son, Alessandro, a graduate engineer, the company came to a point where it could suggest its customers the best possible solutions according to their needs and requests.

Bosco Ottica: a business excellence in the field of lasers.

A family story, made of passion and perseverance. The chief protagonist is Bosco Ottica, a company situated in the heart of the province of Bergamo, specialized in light manipulation for medical, industrial and scientific uses. High specificity, technological excellence and cultural commitment to research mark this team, that engages in manufacturing more and more sophisticated, state-of-the-art products.

A success story
It all began in the 1960s. Mr. Ermanno Bosco, founder of Bosco Ottica, who had only just got his diploma, was working in an important firm operating in the optics field.

At that time, it was a thriving, excellent business, one of the pioneers in the sector, well-known for its high quality in manufacturing, but after some years it disappeared for want of descendants who could succeed the founder in the business. Mr. Ermanno, having worked in that company as an optician and having advanced in knowledge and skills, decided to go his own way in the business. After a while he established his firm, “Costruzioni Ottiche Industriali”, that later became “Bosco Ottica”.
Towards the end of the 1980s the economical and geographical context was changing. The laser industry began taking root in the province of Bergamo too.  New companies were set up, that needed new applicative devices to improve efficacy in light generation. The steady and continual demand for products that were necessary to meet the rising needs of the new industrial sector converted the original small workshop into a different enterprise. Bosco Ottica started  producing optical fibers on the one hand, and on the other designing and manufacturing fiber optic handpieces for lasers, becoming one of the few Italian firms that could supply these new industrial devices.

In the meantime, a new generation was appearing. Alessandro and Silvia Bosco, upon successful completion of studies, collaborated with their father in running the business. As years went by, Bosco Ottica gained expertise. Alessandro Bosco’s insight into the needs and the problems of laser manufacturing industries enabled Bosco Ottica to specialize in this field and become an increasingly valuable partner, developing its own know-how in this field. It was the first step in a success story.
